This is the main bed of our garden. On the left are our tomato plants, followed by cucumbers and carrots. The corner of this bed is my favorite spot: Buddah's head surrounded by two mini gnomes doing yoga. To the right of this little corner of heaven is a hodgepodge of onions and peppers. On the far right where the biggest plants are located, are spinach and broccoli. The potted plants from the right to left are English lavender, basil, cilantro, Brennan's creeping flower, a succulent, thyme, and more basil. The seedling tray has more tomatoes, cucumbers, and basil, along with brussel sprouts. I'm also particularly fond of my thermometer and rain gauge.

In the smaller bed to the left is more broccoli. I realized that they needed to be in that bed because that one has more shade, which cabbage family plants need to thrive. The brussel sprouts will eventually go there. To the right in the less formal raised bed are the berries: two blueberry bushes (because they have to cross-pollinate, a raspberry vine, and a blackberry vine. This is only half finished at the moment, but eventually the entire side of the house will be filled with more berry plants.

This is our first flower bed. Usually, my philosophy of gardening is "if I can't eat it, then why plant it," but we have a rather large family of bumble bees living with us, and they need to eat too so they can pollinate my vegetable garden. So, this bed is for the bees. Brennan actually designed this bed, and I think Monty would be proud of it. There's Mexican grass in the back, Dusty Miller is the silver foliage, blue creepers, and orange magnolias in the front. And of course, I have a birdfeeder to feed the birds/squirrels so they stay out of the garden. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the family of rabbits living in the burn pile though.

Finally, this is Brennan's lemon-lime tree. It grows both lemons and limes at the same time. We think the one currently hanging is a lime, but it's turning more yellow everyday, so it could be a lime. All the little buds aren't actually flowers; those are fruit. We've counted at least 30 buds that this little hobbit-sized tree will give us, which we're pretty happy about considering how much work this tree has been. With the bipolar weather lately, we've been carrying this thing in and out of the house everyday. It's finally to the point where we can leave it outside permanently, thank goodness.

Thanks for checking out my blog, and stay tuned for more garden updates! :)
